Registration status

ShareSetu is not registered with the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in any capacity, including as a stock broker, investment adviser, research analyst or portfolio manager. It is not a member of NSE, BSE or any other exchange, and is not regulated by the Reserve Bank of India.

ShareSetu does not need such registration because it does not deal in securities, hold client funds or securities, execute orders, or give personalised investment advice or research recommendations. It is a simulator and information site.

Risk disclosure on derivatives

SEBI's studies of individual traders in the equity futures and options segment found that 9 out of 10 incurred net losses, and that loss-makers on average also bore significant transaction costs on top of those losses.

Before trading derivatives with real money, understand the product, the margin you may be asked for, and the fact that you can lose more than you invest.

IPOs and grey market premium

Grey market trading in IPO shares happens outside any exchange and is not regulated by SEBI. GMP figures shown on ShareSetu are unofficial indications gathered from third parties, are often inaccurate, and are not a reliable predictor of listing price. Read the offer document (RHP) on SEBI's or the exchange's website before applying to any IPO.

Dealing with real intermediaries

Trade and invest only through SEBI-registered intermediaries. You can check any broker's, adviser's or research analyst's registration on SEBI's website (sebi.gov.in) under the list of recognised intermediaries.

Be wary of anyone promising guaranteed or assured returns, asking you to share your trading account login, or offering tips over messaging apps. Complaints against registered intermediaries can be filed on SEBI's SCORES portal (scores.sebi.gov.in).

ShareSetu will never ask for your broker login, bank details, demat details or any payment.
